Second-Generation Kia Seltos Arrives in Europe with Swedish Launch

The second-generation Kia Seltos is finally expanding beyond its traditional markets like the US and South Korea, with a European launch now official. Sweden is the first market, where the new SUV starts at €31,812. First deliveries to customers are expected this summer.

The Seltos no longer looks like a junior crossover. It measures 4,430 mm long, and ground clearance varies by trim: 160 mm on standard models and up to 205 mm on the X-Line. Inside, there are five seats, and the rear seatbacks can be folded, reclined, and split asymmetrically. Cargo volume is 536 liters.

The base model is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 180 hp. It comes with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. In Sweden, front-wheel drive is available on Action and Advance trims, while all-wheel drive is reserved for the X-Line. Maximum towing capacity is 1,300 kg.

Hybrid versions will follow later, including a front-wheel-drive model and an e-AWD variant with electric all-wheel drive. Production of the hybrid is scheduled to begin by the end of this year, with first deliveries expected around the first quarter of 2027.

The Seltos also steps into the territory of larger models when it comes to equipment. It comes with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a same-sized infotainment screen, a separate 5.3-inch climate display, a surround-view camera, a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, over-the-air updates, an AI voice assistant, and a digital key.

In Sweden, the top-spec X-Line Panorama with all-wheel drive is priced at €41,929. At this point, the Seltos poses a threat not just to rivals but also to Kia's own Sportage. It's more compact, yet spacious and tech-laden enough to make some buyers question if they need a larger SUV.
