Toyota's GR Performance Software: Tune Your GR Yaris or GR Corolla
Toyota is increasingly turning its sporty GR models into cars that can be fine-tuned after purchase. GAZOO Racing has announced Performance Software for the GR Yaris and GR Corolla, with sales at GR Garage dealerships starting May 13.
This is an evolution of the earlier Circuit Mode, but now with more adjustability. Drivers can tweak the throttle response, all-wheel drive torque distribution, and preload in the clutch. Parameters are controlled via a dedicated smartphone app after installation.
Three packages are available. STREET is designed for public roads, aiming to deliver a livelier feel without going too far into race-car sharpness. CIRCUIT is for track use, where the ability to tailor the car to a specific driving style matters. COMPETITION is the most precise option for racing, focusing on fine adjustments to optimize performance.
Separately, Toyota announced the GR Corolla Performance Upgrade. It will be offered to owners of cars sold through February 2025. After installation, the vehicle gains the same settings as the GR Corolla built from March 2025 onward: torque is boosted to 400 Nm, and the all-wheel drive torque split is updated to the latest calibration.
For owners, this is a rare opportunity to keep a car from feeling outdated when a new version arrives. Instead of selling a new body or a new engine, Toyota offers access to a different character. For GR models, that approach makes more sense than yet another appearance package.
