Xiaomi YU7 GT: 990 hp electric SUV ready for Nürburgring
Xiaomi is building anticipation for the YU7 GT, the most extreme version of its electric SUV. Official debut is set for late May, and the first demonstration cars should arrive at dealers as early as May 16.
The headline figure is nearly 1,000 hp. Xiaomi quotes power at around 990 hp and a top speed of up to 300 km/h. Full technical details are still under wraps, but a dual-motor all-wheel-drive layout is expected. On paper, that puts it in the same league as the Tesla Model X Plaid and other electric SUVs where range isn't the only priority—sustained hard acceleration matters too.
Visually, the YU7 GT looks noticeably more aggressive than the standard YU7. The company has shown off a new Crimson Red color, larger air intakes, a more prominent front diffuser, wider bodywork, and a long hood. Xiaomi describes the driving position almost theatrically—calling it a "warhorse"—but here the image is at least backed up by the hardware.
Special attention goes to the Nürburgring. Prototypes of the YU7 GT have already been spotted on the German track, some fitted with large rear wings. Xiaomi says the chassis was tuned there, following the logic of the SU7 Ultra. That's no casual reminder: the electric sedan lapped the Nordschleife in 6 minutes 22 seconds in 2025, making a strong statement about the brand's sporting ambitions.
Range is claimed at 705 km under the CLTC cycle. In real-world driving, the figure will almost certainly be lower, but the number itself matters for positioning: Xiaomi doesn't want to just build a fast SUV that drains its battery after a few hard runs.
The cabin also gets a sporty theme. For the YU7 GT, there's a Track Red package with a red-and-black color scheme, contrast stitching, and GT logos on the front seats and dashboard. The overall layout stays minimalist, but the mood is noticeably sharper.
Pricing, battery capacity, and charging specs have not been announced yet. But the direction is clear: Xiaomi is trying to prove it can build more than just gadgets and flashy sedans—it can deliver proper fast EVs that go toe-to-toe with Tesla and traditional premium brands. The YU7 GT looks like a bid not for a niche, but for a loud entrance into the club of SUVs that have long stopped being just family vehicles.
