Ford recalls 2025 Maverick and Escape over brake booster cover error

Ford has announced a recall that is unusual for its scale: just two vehicles, a 2025 Maverick and a 2025 Escape. The culprit is a supply error. Two electric brake boosters were fitted with incorrect control-module covers that slipped into production from mislabelled packaging. Because the cover design was not the right match, heat inside the module could have climbed beyond acceptable limits, risking damage to the circuit board and a loss of brake assist. In that scenario, the vehicle would also be left without ABS, stability control, and traction control.

The issue surfaced at the Flat Rock plant on September 10, when a booster failed to fit a checking fixture. Supplier Aumovio confirmed the mix-up, and Ford followed with an internal investigation. No incidents or injuries have been recorded. Owners will be notified by November 28, and dealers will replace the entire assembly at no cost. The scope is tiny, but the root cause is telling: a mislabelled container can cascade into a safety-critical system, which is exactly why fixture checks and traceability matter.

The Maverick is built in Mexico, the Escape in the United States, and both vehicles came off the line in June 2025. As Ford moves through a broad refresh of its lineup and prepares a shift to a new universal EV platform, this episode is a timely reminder that even one-off production slips demand tight oversight and fast corrective action.
