General Motors Recalls Large SUVs Over Front Hub Bolt Concerns
General Motors recalls 2,464 large SUVs from Cadillac, Chevy, and GMC over front hub bolt concerns that could cause partial loss of control. Check VIN.
General Motors is recalling large SUVs from Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC in the US over front hub bolt concerns. The recall, listed as NHTSA campaign 26V304, affects 2,464 vehicles from the 2025 and 2026 model years: the Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL.
The problem is limited to vehicles equipped with 24-inch wheels. GM says dealers may have used the wrong bolts when installing the accessory brake package RPO 5JL or during front hub bearing service. Over time, those bolts can loosen or deform.
If a bolt breaks or comes completely loose while driving, the load shifts to the remaining three fasteners. That could cause partial loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Drivers might hear noise or feel vibration from the affected hub beforehand.
Dealers are instructed to replace the left and right front hub bolts at no charge. VINs for the recalled vehicles are already available for checking on the NHTSA website as of May 14, 2026. GM plans to mail owner letters starting June 29. The company also issued a stop-delivery order, barring dealers from delivering, selling, auctioning, or using the affected vehicles until repairs are completed.
For owners, this is a reminder that symptoms like vibration shouldn't be written off as just wheel balancing on big wheels. On a heavy SUV, hub bolts aren't trivial hardware—they're literally what the vehicle's handling depends on.
