Ferrari Luce is about to crash the Australian EV ceiling — and it's not even a hypercar

European price tag set at €550,000. In Australia, local outlets already expect more than AUD 1 million — and that's before the luxury car tax.

Ferrari Luce, the brand’s first fully electric car, looks set to enter Australia as the most expensive legal EV in the country’s history. The European sticker is already known: roughly €550,000, or about $640,000 in US dollars. A straight currency conversion comes out at 895,000 Australian dollars. From there, the maths gets a lot more Australian.

Local outlets, including CarExpert, are already pegging the starting price at “more than AUD 1 million” — and that’s before the country’s notorious luxury car tax. The figure could still swing by about 10% either way before deliveries begin. European customers get their first cars in October 2026; Australians have to wait until mid-2027.

Even at the mid-estimate, Luce will be more expensive than most series-production Ferraris currently sold on the Australian market. The Purosangue starts at AUD 728,000, the 12Cilindri coupe from AUD 803,500, and the 12Cilindri Spider from AUD 886,800. Add the luxury car tax and Luce could push close to AUD 1.1 million — before options, registration and on-road costs.

Until now, the most expensive EV officially sold in Australia was the Rolls-Royce Spectre Black Badge at AUD 933,000 before on-roads. Luce is ready to knock it off the throne. And — here’s the twist — we’re not talking about a track-focused hypercar. Luce is a five-seat electric grand tourer with five doors and ISOFIX mounts. A family car for a million.

Ferrari is keen to stress one more thing: the model won’t be a mandatory “ticket” to the brand’s limited-run supercars. Clients won’t have to buy the EV just to access future special editions. Good news for anyone who happens not to have a spare million lying around.
