Ford finally pulled the trigger — meet the new flagship Everest
Ford just rewrote the rules in Malaysia. The new Everest Platinum tops the range with a 3.0L V6 diesel, 21-inch wheels and a Bang & Olufsen system. Price? Steep.
Ford is done playing nice with Malaysian buyers. In Kuala Lumpur, the Ford Everest Platinum has just made its debut — the new flagship of the Ranger-based body-on-frame SUV. The premiere took place at Sime Motors MotorExpo 2026, and the car is already on sale.
Platinum now sits at the top of a five-strong local line-up, joining Sport, Trend, Titanium and Wildtrak. But all eyes are on the newcomer. Especially on what hides under the hood of the top version.
The main sensation — a 3.0-litre V6 diesel. It cranks out 250 hp and a hefty 600 Nm, paired with a 10-speed SelectShift automatic and a full-time all-wheel drive system with intelligent torque distribution. This combination makes the range-topping Everest the most powerful and technologically advanced version of the model ever offered in Malaysia.
The second Platinum plays it more modestly — a 2.0-litre turbodiesel with 170 hp and 405 Nm. But it also gets the same 10-speed automatic, an electronically controlled transfer case, a rear differential lock and six drive modes: Normal, Eco, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Mud/Ruts and Sand. So in the dirt or on a trailer hitch, both versions feel equally confident.
Outside, the Platinum is given away by the black grille, Platinum lettering on the hood, dedicated badging and beefy wheels. The 3.0L gets 21-inch rims, the 2.0L makes do with 20-inch. Inside — Platinum leather upholstery, a panoramic roof, a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a vertical 12-inch screen of the SYNC 4A infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
And the senior 3.0L goes even further. Front seats with 10-way power adjustment, heating, ventilation and memory for the driver. On top of that — a Bang & Olufsen audio system with 12 speakers. The safety arsenal includes seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
So how much for all this pleasure? The Platinum 2.0L will set you back 348,888 ringgit (around $86,500), while the flagship 3.0L V6 commands 430,888 ringgit — roughly $106,900. The price is steep. But the Everest is no longer what it used to be.
