The Sprinter that picked the road over comfort
AdventureBumss built a Sprinter AWD without a sink or plumbing. But with Starlink mounts, a modular bed, and electronics that won’t quit in the middle of nowhere.
Forget marble countertops and rolling shower stalls. AdventureBumss unveiled a camper built on a 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter AWD with a 170-inch (4,320 mm) wheelbase. And this isn’t the kind of build that hides a kitchen cabinet and a wine cooler somewhere inside. The logic here is different: go further, carry more, don’t break down in the middle of nowhere.
From the outside, the Sprinter wears its intentions on its sleeve. Aftermarket wheels, all-terrain tires, an Avatar rear ski box, a spare-tire mount with a built-in ladder, a Vanspeed roof rack, and two 100 W solar panels. There are mounting points ready for Starlink and extra gear — nothing left to improvise. Baja Designs fog lights sit in the bumper, and the flared body kit lets the bed stretch sideways across the cabin. A small detail? Not for anyone who’s ever slept diagonally in a van.
Inside, the play is all about simplicity and volume. The front seats swivel rearward, a fold-out desk with power outlets sits behind the driver, and L-Track rails run along the floor, walls, and ceiling. Everything mounts to them: cabinets, bags, bikes, gear boxes. There’s no kitchen. That sounds like a death sentence for long off-grid trips — until you remember how much space a sink, a water tank, and plumbing actually swallow. Not to mention the weight. And the breakdowns.
The rear holds a modular Van Essential bed made of four panels. Want a full sleeping platform — done. Want a couch — takes a minute. Need a mini dinette — also there. Underneath sits an open garage with dual access: from the cabin and from outside. The electrical system is serious business: a 24 V architecture, a 200 Ah lithium battery, a 3,000 W inverter, and charging from solar, shore power, and a generator. Only one question hangs in the air — how much does all this cost. AdventureBumss didn’t say. And Sprinters like this don’t come cheap — even without a kitchen.
