Buick unveils the 2026 Electra Encasa MPV with EV and PHEV options
Buick officially introduced the 2026 Electra Encasa at the Guangzhou Auto Show, opening preorders for its flagship MPV. It’s the first minivan under the Electra banner—the sub-brand for Buick’s new‑energy models, which now stretches beyond crossovers to a wider array of electrified vehicles.
Built on the new Xiao Yao architecture, the Encasa adopts a more streamlined profile and ushers in a thoroughly updated design language for the brand. Inside, there’s an emphasis on premium finishes along with an advanced infotainment and driver‑assistance suite co‑developed with Momenta. The result looks cohesive and contemporary, the kind of execution that leaves a confident first impression.
The Electra Encasa is offered in two configurations. The first is a plug‑in hybrid that pairs a 1.5‑liter turbocharged engine rated at 177 hp with an electric motor and an LFP battery. The second is a fully electric, all‑wheel‑drive variant with dual motors (268 hp + 174 hp) and a CATL battery. The claimed range is up to 632 km on the Chinese test cycle. On paper, the dual‑motor layout suggests assured traction, while the PHEV option adds welcome flexibility.
