Chevrolet quietly drops a bombshell on Mexico — and Cheyenne fans will not believe it
GM Mexico confirms the next-gen Silverado 1500 and the legendary Cheyenne will land in 2027. Both come with the new sixth-gen V8 family.
Cheyenne is back — and it is not coming alone. General Motors has officially confirmed that the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will hit the Mexican market, and the legendary range-topping Cheyenne is coming along for the ride. The Mexican premiere ran in parallel with the global debut of the full-size pickup in the United States, which Tarantas News already covered in detail.
GM Mexico confirmed it: both the standard Silverado and the upscale Cheyenne will be offered in the country. Both trucks will reach Mexican dealers during the 2027 calendar year, shortly after the U.S. launch.
Details on trim levels and pricing for Mexico will be revealed closer to the launch. One thing is already certain: the new generation will be built at GM’s full-size pickup assembly plants across North America. The current Silverado has historically rolled off the Silao line, and the Guanajuato plant remains pivotal in producing the model for the domestic market and exports.
So what is the new Silverado 1500 bringing to the table? Chevrolet calls it the most powerful and technologically advanced version in the model’s history. Under the hood lives a sixth-generation V8 family — brand-new naturally aspirated 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter engines join the lineup. The body is stiffer, the cabin more modern, the tech suite wider than ever. In Mexico, the Silverado will be offered in Crew Cab and Regular Cab configurations. For the jobsite or the family — the truck keeps everything customers love about it: hauling power, dependability, and a wide range of versions.
