Cadillac Vistiq has a serious problem — and it sits in the third row

GM is preparing a recall of the Cadillac Vistiq. The power-folding third-row seatback may not reverse when it meets an obstruction — and that puts smaller passengers in real danger.

General Motors is preparing a recall for its electric Cadillac Vistiq crossover. And the reason is no small matter — the power-folding third-row seat could quite literally pin a passenger down.

Here’s the issue: the third-row seatback won’t reverse if something gets in the way as it folds. Activating the power fold is easy — press the button, the motor does the rest. The trouble is, when that “rest” happens to be an arm, a leg, or the passenger themselves, the mechanism just keeps going.

The risk is obvious — injury. And the most exposed are children and shorter passengers, who can most easily end up in the folding zone. Early word suggests the cure won’t be cheap — a full replacement of the third-row control module.

According to preliminary information, the recall covers the 2026 and likely the 2027 Cadillac Vistiq. The exact number of affected vehicles is still unknown — no official document from GM or NHTSA has been filed yet. Once the recall is formalised, owners will receive letters inviting them in for a free dealer repair, as is usually the case.
