Sink One Shot on the 17th and Drive Away in a Car Nobody Can Buy Yet

BMW put its new X5 M60e flagship on the line at the International Open. One hole-in-one on the 17th, and it's yours — months before dealers get it.

One perfect shot, and the new BMW X5 M60e is yours. At the BMW International Open at Munich Eichenried, BMW has put up perhaps the most tempting prize of the season: the SUV goes to the first player to ace the 17th hole (par 3) with a single stroke. A car that isn't even on sale yet.

And this is no ordinary X5. The prize belongs to the fifth generation of the model and comes in M Performance guise. Its body wears matte Frozen Space Silver from the BMW Individual catalogue — a shade regular customers won't get until late 2026. The lucky player on the course gets it first.

Add to that the new 23-inch two-tone wheels with the 1121 M code. They debut alongside the G65 generation and are reserved for cars with the M Sport package. Series production of the new X5 in Spartanburg kicks off as soon as next month.

In the 37-year history of the BMW International Open, a perfect shot has handed the winner a car just eight times. Among the trophies were the BMW 325i Convertible, Z8, M8 Competition Coupe, i8 Coupe and i8 Roadster. The X5 M60e could become the ninth on that short list — if someone's aim is true.

Regular deliveries of the new X5 begin in late November, but the 40 xDrive and 40d xDrive versions reach customers first. The 50e xDrive and M60e xDrive plug-in hybrids, along with the electric iX5 60 xDrive, arrive for buyers in early 2027.
