Europe finally gets a proper city EV that costs less than a loaded hatchback
Orders open in early July. Two LFP batteries promise up to 382 km WLTP, a 16-minute fast charge and two simple trims — proof that an affordable electric SUV no longer means compromise.
An electric crossover for under €25,000 — not long ago, that sounded like wishful thinking. Now it's real: Leapmotor is opening European orders for the new B03X, and the entry price is almost cheeky at €24,900. Order books open at European dealerships in early July.
The B03X is a compact urban crossover, and its dimensions are cut precisely for tight streets: 4270 mm long, 1810 mm wide and 1635 mm tall, with a 2605 mm wheelbase. The idea is simple — deliver a high seating position and a roomy cabin where you usually have to pick one or the other. Leapmotor promises as much room inside as you would expect from something noticeably bigger.
Europe gets two versions, both running lithium-iron-phosphate batteries. The base car makes do with a 39.8 kWh pack and up to 292 km of WLTP range. The stronger one goes further: 53.0 kWh and up to 382 km. And neither leaves you loitering at the charger — both climb from 30% to 80% on DC in roughly 16 minutes.
There is a single motor, and it sits up front: 197 hp and 200 Nm. Top speed is 160 km/h, and the sprint to 100 km/h takes 8.6 seconds. No record, but more than enough for the city. Add the Leap OS 4.0 digital ecosystem, smartphone connectivity and remote control of the car, and you get modern urban transport without the swagger.
The line-up is deliberately kept simple: two trims — LIFE and DESIGN — plus two battery options. No agonising configurators. For Europe this is a play for the fast-growing segment of affordable urban electric crossovers, where price and range matter more than loud premium promises.
Earlier it was reported that Leapmotor had opened orders for the electric B05 hatchback in the UK.
