Britain’s biggest carmaker just showed the world where its electric future is heading
JLR brings its boldest Goodwood lineup yet: the electric Jaguar Type 01 GT prototype tackles the hillclimb, while Range Rover Electric makes its first near-production public appearance.
Jaguar Land Rover isn’t playing it modest on home turf. The 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed has become the company’s personal showcase — with new metal arriving from all four British brands: Jaguar, Range Rover, Defender and Discovery.
The headline act is the electric GT prototype Jaguar Type 01. For the first time in the UK, it will run dynamically — straight up the legendary Goodwood hillclimb. The camouflage hasn’t come off yet, but the design direction of the future electric Jaguar GT is already becoming clear, ahead of a full world premiere later this year. On the Jaguar stand, the prototype will sit alongside classic E-type, XJC and XJS models — the very cars engineers used as reference points when shaping the new model’s character.
Jaguar TCS Racing, meanwhile, is bringing its new GEN4 race car — the team’s future in the Formula E World Championship. Behind the wheel on the Goodwood hill will be Fernando Barrichello, son of Formula One legend Rubens Barrichello.
Range Rover has its own sensation to reveal — the first public appearance of Range Rover Electric in a specification close to production. Joining the EV will be the London Editions special series — Westminster, Battersea, Belgravia and Hoxton. And the Range Rover Sport SV Ultimate Edition will tackle the hillclimb across all four days of the festival.
