Stellantis stalls Maserati Levante and Lancia Delta decisions
Stellantis keeps postponing key calls on the new Maserati Levante and Lancia Delta, leaving the future of both models up in the air. Unlike Citroën, Peugeot and DS, where product plans are clearly mapped out, the road ahead for Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Maserati remains hazy, with strategy shifting more than once.
For Maserati, the spotlight is on a thorough rethink of the range. The brand is weighing a new SUV on the STLA Large platform that could take the place of the Levante and be built in Cassino alongside the next Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio. Timings and specifications, however, have yet to be disclosed. In parallel, there’s talk of a return to the sedan segment with a model that could replace both the Ghibli and Quattroporte. The stop-start approach risks dulling momentum in a fiercely competitive space, where clarity typically fuels interest.
The picture for the Lancia Delta is even murkier. Earlier, the model was expected around 2028–2029 as an EV, but for now brand leadership only confirms the launch of the new Lancia Gamma. That stance casts doubt on a Delta comeback despite previous statements.
Against this backdrop, shoppers trying to decide what to buy in the next few years are left parsing renders and rumors. Prolonged ambiguity tends to test loyalty and cool enthusiasm, so a clearer roadmap would go a long way. For now, the fate of both models remains unresolved.
