Third-gen Range Rover Evoque to adopt EMA EV platform

According to Autocar, the third-generation Range Rover Evoque will move to the new EMA platform, engineered primarily for electric models. The architecture is set to debut on the Range Rover Velar next year, while the new Evoque is expected no earlier than late 2027, with deliveries following a year later.

The Evoque will stay as the entry point to the Range Rover family but undergo a comprehensive technical overhaul. EMA supports an 800-volt setup and is designed for fully electric drivetrains. Batteries will be supplied from Tata’s new plant in England. The platform will also be used by the upcoming Velar and Defender Sport.

The company is considering an electric range-extender option; however, if costs remain high, the Evoque may be sold exclusively as an EV, with the current generation continuing as the combustion-powered alternative. That path would streamline the lineup and keep long-time buyers covered without diluting the brand’s focus.

Inside, space will grow thanks to a flat floor, and the trunk will be larger. A minimalist layout and expanded driver-assistance features are expected. The newcomer is poised to compete with compact premium electric crossovers due in 2026, and the timing should let it meet the market’s shift head-on while giving the Evoque the technological reset it has been waiting for.
