Scenic E-Tech goes farther and charges faster after a major battery rethink
The Scenic E-Tech gets larger NMC and LFP batteries, faster charging and up to 642 km WLTP range — the biggest technical shake-up yet.
Renault has given the electric Scenic E-Tech a much bigger shake-up than a routine update would suggest. The family EV's battery range has been almost completely reworked: the former 60 and 87 kWh packs make way for new 67 and 89 kWh units, while maximum WLTP range rises from 625 to 642 km. And that is not all. Both versions now use the same 220 hp electric motor.
The flagship setup relies on an 89 kWh NMC battery. With it, the Scenic can travel up to 642 km on the WLTP cycle, while a 15–80% fast charge takes 28 minutes at a peak of 150 kW. But Renault saved the real surprise for the more affordable version. Arriving in autumn 2026, it uses a 67 kWh LFP battery: range increases from the previous 430 to 467 km, while a 15–80% charge takes just 24 minutes at up to 165 kW. In both cases, Renault says fast-charging time has been cut by 25%.
This is where things get more interesting. Expectations that Scenic would abandon NMC chemistry entirely in favor of LFP have not come true. Renault has split the two technologies by role: LFP goes to the Comfort Range version, while the longest range still comes from NMC. Cells for the new batteries are produced in Poland, with complete packs assembled at the French plant in Douai.
The update lands just as Scenic is gaining momentum. In the first half of 2026, the model ranked third in the French EV market with a 5% share, while sales jumped 63%. Renault has also added Google Gemini, Qi2 wireless smartphone charging and upgraded electronic driver-assistance systems. Yet all of that sits behind the main change: Scenic now goes farther, charges faster and, for the first time, splits its battery lineup between NMC and LFP technologies.
