A BMW dealer is opening the door wider to China's car brands
One of Germany's major dealer groups is widening its Chinese bet. Omoda and Jaecoo will join Cloppenburg from the fourth quarter of 2026, complete with sales, service and parts support.
BMW and MINI are no longer the limit: one of Germany's major dealer groups is preparing to seriously expand the Chinese side of its portfolio. Omoda and Jaecoo, both owned by Chery, will arrive at Cloppenburg Automobil SE locations from the fourth quarter of 2026. And this is about much more than simply selling cars. Dealers will handle servicing, repairs and genuine parts, while staff will receive dedicated training for the new brands.
For Chery, this is not a one-off deal but another step toward a full-fledged traditional dealer network in Germany. Omoda and Jaecoo are already on sale in the country, and the pace of expansion is striking: in July alone, the German operation announced 15 new retail partners. The current range includes the Omoda 5 and 9 as well as the Jaecoo 5 and 7, with hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains.
But there is an even more interesting twist. Cloppenburg has long been associated mainly with BMW and MINI, yet the German group clearly has no intention of sticking to familiar badges. Chinese brand XPENG has already joined its portfolio, and now two more brands from China are coming in. The logic is simple: the broader the choice, the less dependent a dealer becomes on the cycles and decisions of any single manufacturer.
There is only one mystery left: how big will this Chinese push become? Cloppenburg has not yet disclosed the exact number of locations that will get Omoda and Jaecoo first, nor the specific cities and opening dates. The group says those details will be announced separately as the new centers are launched.
