A 920-hp Lamborghini is joining the police for missions where minutes matter
Italy's police gets a hybrid Lamborghini for urgent organ transport, and this 920-hp machine marks a dramatic break with the old V10 era.
920 hp, flashing police lights and a race in which a human life may be at stake. The new Lamborghini Temerario is not heading to a collector or even an ordinary road patrol: the company has handed the hybrid supercar to the Italian State Police for urgent transport of donor organs and medical materials. And the newcomer will not replace the Lamborghinis already in service — it will join them.
There is far more substance here than the spectacular police livery suggests. Lamborghini's cooperation with the Polizia di Stato began back in 2004 with the Gallardo, which carried out its first organ-transport mission that September. In its latest release, Lamborghini says that six of its cars have entered the police fleet over more than two decades. Together they have completed more than 200 organ-transport missions and taken part in over 1,500 road-safety events.
Under the skin, the rules have changed too. The Temerario combines a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with three electric motors for a total output of 920 hp. But the bigger point is that this is not merely a flashy supercar with blue lights. Lamborghini's program with the Italian police already has a real medical track record. The Huracán spent years on special missions, while the Urus Performante has been in police service since 2023. Lamborghini previously detailed the Urus's refrigerated equipment for organ transport, but the new Temerario release does not describe equivalent hardware. For now, what is officially confirmed is the mission itself — urgent delivery of organs and medical materials.
There is one more symbolic twist. With the Temerario, the program says goodbye to the naturally aspirated V10 era of the Huracán and moves to a hybrid V8. Electrification now covers Lamborghini's entire current range: Revuelto, Urus SE and Temerario. The Revuelto takes a different route, keeping a V12 and adding three electric motors. Even a police Lamborghini now shows just how dramatically the supercars of Sant'Agata Bolognese have changed.
