Huawei’s smart-driving arsenal is crashing into the budget EV segment
A six-seat EV with Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 SE, 510 km of CLTC range and a surprisingly low entry price is about to hit China.
Huawei is moving into a price bracket where this level of driver assistance still looked almost unrealistic not long ago. Versions of the Dongfeng Forthing Xinghai V6 with Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 SE will launch in China on September 19. The two Huawei-equipped trims were previously announced at 104,900 and 124,900 yuan, with the entry version starting at 104,900 yuan.
The electronics are the real headline. ADS 5 SE uses 25 sensors: 10 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors and three millimeter-wave radars. The suite supports NCA navigation assistance on expressways, LCC+ urban lane-driving assistance, parking support for more than 160 complex scenarios and the CAS 5.0 active-safety package. In other words, Dongfeng and Huawei are pushing a serious set of electronic assistants into the roughly 100,000-yuan segment.
The Xinghai V6 itself is a large electric vehicle measuring 4,835 mm long, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase and a six-seat 2+2+2 cabin. Its front electric motor produces 135 kW, or about 184 hp, and 260 Nm. Battery packs with capacities of 45.5 and 60.5 kWh provide CLTC ranges of 400 and 510 km respectively.
And this is no longer just a promise. The first Xinghai V6 with Huawei ADS 5 SE rolled off the Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor production line on August 18. Regular versions of the model start at 89,900 yuan, while the Huawei-equipped version begins at 104,900 yuan. First came pre-orders, then series production, and now the full launch: on September 19, the Xinghai V6 with ADS 5 SE is set to properly enter the market.
