Mahindra promised five stars and the XUV 7XO actually delivered them
The three-row SUV scored 30.76/32 for adult protection and 44.97/49 for children, turning Mahindra’s January safety promise into a verified result.
Mahindra promised five stars — and now the numbers speak for themselves. The XUV 7XO has officially completed Bharat NCAP crash testing and earned the maximum rating in both key categories. The Indian three-row SUV scored 30.76 out of 32 for adult occupant protection (AOP) and 44.97 out of 49 for child occupant protection (COP). The results were published in September 2026.
And this is where it gets especially interesting. At the January premiere, Mahindra had only said that the XUV 7XO was engineered with a five-star Bharat NCAP rating in mind. The company promised 6 airbags as standard, electronic stability control and 75 standard safety features. Now that bold claim has turned into a verified result.
The XUV 7XO replaced the XUV700, which earned five stars from Global NCAP for adult protection and four for child protection back in 2021. The scores cannot be compared directly because the organizations and test protocols are different. Still, the outcome for the new model is convincing — the XUV 7XO reached the maximum five-star Bharat NCAP rating for both adults and children.
And this is hardly a rare SUV bought by only a handful of people. By the end of August, Mahindra had sold more than 70,000 XUV 7XOs in just seven months. That means the fresh crash-test result now applies to one of the more visible mass-market SUVs in India. Mahindra aimed for five stars — and got exactly that.
