2026 Kia Sorento secures IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating

The 2026 Kia Sorento has earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s top honor, the TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+).

It becomes Kia’s fifth TSP+ in 2025. Counting the 2026 Sorento (built after September 2025), the roster also includes the 2026 Sportage (built after May 2025), the 2025 K4 (built after January 2025), the 2025 EV9, and the 2025 Telluride.

To qualify for TSP+, a vehicle must achieve good ratings in the small overlap front crash test, the updated moderate overlap front test, and the updated side impact test. It must also deliver strong results in front crash prevention with pedestrians and provide good-rated headlights as standard across all trims.

The 2026 Sorento received Good evaluations for its standard front crash prevention in both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian assessments. It comes with a standard collision-avoidance assist designed to detect pedestrians and cyclists ahead, as well as oncoming vehicles when making a left turn at intersections.

Recognition at this level signals that Kia is sharpening its focus on real-world risks: the Sorento’s safety tech feels tuned to everyday hazards rather than simply ticking boxes.
