Nissan’s Personalized Sound app customizes car audio to your hearing
Nissan has introduced the Personalized Sound app, a tool for fine-tuning in-car audio to each driver’s hearing. The service went live on December 15 and is available free via Google Play for Nissan and Infiniti models with Google built-in.
The app guides users through a three-minute hearing check on the infotainment screen. Based on the responses, it creates a personal audio profile and automatically adjusts a 10-band equalizer spanning 50 to 1200 Hz. The idea is to tailor playback to the way each driver perceives sound, and the quick setup feels like a reasonable trade for better audio day to day.
Development took under 18 months and involved engineers and employees with a range of hearing abilities, including partial hearing loss. Nissan says accessibility and ease of use were top priorities — a sensible focus for something drivers will interact with frequently.
Personalized Sound works with both standard and premium audio systems. At launch, it supports playback over Bluetooth and through built-in apps, including Spotify and Audible. Broader compatibility is planned for 2026.
The feature rolls out to 2025–2026 models, including the Armada, Murano, and Rogue, as well as the Infiniti QX80 and the upcoming QX65. Multiple drivers can save their own profiles, linked to a key or a user account. In internal tests, 96% of users kept their personalized settings active — a strong sign that once set, most drivers prefer to leave it on.
