Ford recall: F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E and Maverick face Park fault

Ford has announced a recall of 272,645 vehicles in the United States over a risk of losing the Park function. According to 32CARS.RU, which cites the NHTSA database, the integrated park module may in some cases fail to lock the transmission in Park even when the driver has moved the gear selector to P. In that scenario, a vehicle could roll away on its own — a clear safety hazard, especially on inclines and in tight parking lots.

The campaign covers several key models: the F-150 Lightning from the 2022–2026 model years, the Mustang Mach-E from 2024–2026, and the Maverick from 2025–2026. The troubling part is that this isn’t about creature comforts or secondary electronics. Parking is a fundamental function drivers rely on instinctively, which is why the regulator treats such glitches as safety-critical — and rightly so, because peace of mind starts with knowing the vehicle stays put when you step out.

The remedy is software-based. Ford will update the park module’s software at no cost: some vehicles will receive the fix over the air, while the rest will be handled at dealerships. For owners whose cars support remote updates, that should minimize downtime and hassle.
