Leapmotor aims for 1M EVs by 2026 and 4M within a decade
Chinese maker Leapmotor has set a strategic goal to lift annual output to as many as 4 million electric vehicles within the next decade. The plan was announced during the brand’s 10th-anniversary celebrations. By 2026, the company aims to sell around 1 million EVs. It’s an ambitious target, and the timing suggests confidence built on recent momentum.
Founded in 2015, Leapmotor has been scaling quickly. In 2019, it delivered 1,037 vehicles; by the end of 2024, sales had reached 293,724 units. Over the first 11 months of 2025, deliveries climbed to 536,132. For the full year, the company expects roughly 600,000 vehicles and a shift to annual profitability. In the third quarter of 2025, net profit stood at $21.4 million. The leap from four-figure volumes to hundreds of thousands in a few years points to sustained growth rather than a one-off spike.
Support from Stellantis adds further heft: in 2023, the giant invested €1.5 billion for about a 20% stake. Leapmotor also maintains a partnership with FAW Group, with the first jointly developed EV slated for 2026. Such alliances tend to steady the path to scale and broaden access to markets, including Europe.
The centerpiece of the next phase will be the large D19 SUV, due on sale in the first half of 2026. It will launch the new D Series and anchor a broader expansion that includes additional 2026 models for China and Europe. Putting a flagship SUV at the front of the rollout is a clear signal of intent, helping set the brand’s design and technology direction.
