Bosch forecasts 70% ICE powertrains in North America by 2035
At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the president of Bosch’s North American division predicted that by 2035, roughly 70% of all new vehicles sold in North America will still be equipped with internal combustion engines.
That share, however, will span a spectrum of powertrains, including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electric vehicles offering extended range thanks to an additional gasoline engine.
In other words, even as electric mobility keeps gathering pace, the internal-combustion camp is poised to remain a meaningful pillar of the U.S. car market—even two decades from now. The outlook suggests a long, blended transition rather than an abrupt switch, leaving buyers with genuine choice.
Reflecting this, Bosch plans to continue producing components for traditional vehicles while developing innovative solutions for upcoming electric and hybrid models. It reads as a pragmatic course: support what the market still demands while investing in technologies that are steadily advancing.
