XPeng P7+ enters Europe: Magna Steyr assembly in Austria, BEV and EREV with 5C charging

XPeng is making a move that could set the tone for Chinese brands in the EU by 2026: contract manufacturing giant Magna Steyr has started pilot assembly of the XPeng P7+ sedan at its plant in Graz, Austria. The car will be put together from Semi Knocked Down kits shipped from China to soften the impact of trade barriers and EV import duties—a pragmatic route given today’s climate.

The European debut is scheduled for January 9. The P7+ is a sizable four-door, 5.07 m long with a 3.0 m wheelbase, and it will arrive in two versions from the start: a pure BEV and an EREV with a gasoline range extender.

According to Chinese specifications, the BEV version offers 61.7 and 74.9 kWh batteries with a maximum range of up to 725 km on the CLTC cycle. Charging speed stands out: 3C capability (30–80% in 20 minutes) and even 5C (30–80% in 12 minutes), depending on the battery. Output is rated at 180 kW for the base model and 230 kW for the upper trim. On paper, those charging figures—if achieved in Europe—could reset expectations in the segment.

The EREV variant focuses on electric-only driving: up to 430 km CLTC from a 49.2 kWh battery, and as much as 1,550 km CLTC in total. It also uses an 800-volt architecture with 5C charging, pushing the “charge fast, go far” idea to its limit.

For the 2026 version, XPeng has updated the cabin and equipment, including a large head-up display, and doubled down on driver assistance. Three in-house Turing chips deliver a combined 2,250 TOPS, while NGP functions cover both city and highway, with a stated aim of Level 3 compatibility. If the software arrives as claimed, the hardware foundation looks more than ready.
