Genesis G70 secures second facelift after Korea certification
Genesis has effectively made it clear the G70 isn’t going anywhere: a second facelift is confirmed after the sedan cleared Korea’s emissions and noise certification. Against prolonged rumors of a possible exit, that’s a strong signal to the market: the brand isn’t ready to part with its most driver-focused sedan, even as the segment loses ground to SUVs and EVs.
For now, the specifics on exterior and interior tweaks remain under wraps. The update feels poised to be pragmatic—meeting new regulations, refining hardware and safety—rather than a flashy change of direction. An expected slight increase in curb weight to satisfy stricter crash standards points in the same direction. Fuel consumption may shift a bit depending on the version, but the intent clearly seems to be preserving the car’s core character.
No shocks are expected under the hood either: in Korea, the familiar turbo powertrains should carry over. The base 2.5T is listed at 304 hp and 43.0 kg·m, while the 3.3T V6 is around 370 hp and 52.0 kg·m, with a choice of rear- or all-wheel drive. In other words, the emphasis stays on response and real-world pace, not on chasing fashion.
