Consumer Reports: avoid buying used hybrid Ford F-150s (2022–2023)

Consumer Reports experts have flagged a host of significant defects in used hybrid Ford F-150 pickups, with 2022–2023 models drawing the most concern.

According to their findings, the most frequent trouble spots on the hybrid F-150 include internal-combustion engine problems, glitches in the automatic transmission, and failures within individual components of the hybrid powertrain. Given how these faults span core systems, that’s a red flag for shoppers considering trucks from this window.

Because of these issues, Consumer Reports advises against buying used hybrid versions of the Ford F-150.

The F-150 Hybrid isn’t the only Ford under a cloud. The publication also recommends steering clear of pre-owned Ford Escape PHEV, Explorer, and Bronco Sport models.
