Rivian recall: 19,641 R1S and R1T EVs to fix control-arm bolts

Rivian has announced a new U.S. recall affecting 19,641 previously serviced R1S and R1T electric vehicles. Citing NHTSA’s public database, Tarantas News reported that the rear transverse control arm may have been assembled incorrectly during production, which increases the risk of losing steering control and, as a result, a crash.

The manufacturer will replace the bolts at no cost to owners. According to the regulator, Rivian is aware of only one crash linked to the defect, and the injuries were minor. The focus on vehicles that have already been through service is telling; resolving the issue with a simple bolt replacement looks like the sensible path and should reassure owners.
