Updated Lexus IS300h hybrid: sharper steering, richer cabin, F SPORT Mode Black V
Lexus has updated the IS300h hybrid sport sedan, focusing on the model’s continued maturation—still one of the brand’s most recognizable nameplates after a quarter of a century. The refreshed IS gets a reworked electric power steering system with a variable ratio and a retuned AVS adaptive suspension; steering is more precise around small inputs, and straight-line stability is improved. These are the kinds of tweaks that tend to make themselves felt in everyday driving rather than just on a spec sheet.
The exterior has been freshened with a more aggressive front end that emphasizes the low silhouette and width. Inside, there’s a large 12.3-inch central display, an enlarged digital instrument cluster, and new Forged bamboo trim that creates a deep texture by interweaving bamboo fibers. A signature interior color called Prominence also appears—a rich red-orange inspired by the solar corona. The material choices point to a focus on tactility and visual warmth.
Alongside, the F SPORT Mode Black V special edition makes its debut. As the name suggests, it leans on dark accents: forged BBS wheels, blacked-out exterior details, optional red brake calipers, and ultrasuede on the seats and door panels. The look lands more purposeful than flashy.
Lexus notes that the Safety System+ active-safety package has been expanded, and the Advanced Drive assistance now supports traffic-jam help.
Prices in Japan: the base IS300h starts at 5.8 million yen; the L version at 6.1 million; F SPORT at 6.35 million; the Mode Black V special edition at 6.75 million yen.
