Mitsubishi starts production of Nissan Rogue PHEV and Navara

Mitsubishi Motors has begun production of two models to be sold under the Nissan brand, deepening cooperation within the alliance. The move covers the Nissan Rogue plug-in hybrid crossover and the Nissan Navara pickup.

Production of the Rogue plug-in hybrid started on January 12 at Mitsubishi’s Okazaki plant in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. This version is aimed at the North American market and is set to go on sale in the first quarter of 2026. Output of the Navara began on December 20, 2025 at Mitsubishi’s Laem Chabang facility in Thailand, with sales under the Nissan badge in Oceania planned for the end of the first quarter of 2026.

This arrangement allows Nissan to expand its lineup without launching its own production, while Mitsubishi boosts utilization at its plants. It comes across as a pragmatic split of roles and aligns with the alliance’s broader strategy focused on pickup development and electrification.

In addition, Mitsubishi will receive an electric vehicle based on the new Nissan Leaf as part of this cooperation. The model is slated to enter the North American market in the second half of 2026.
