Evotrex PG5: world's first self-powering camper at CES 2026

California-based company Evotrex unveiled its PG5 camper at CES 2026, touting it as the world's first self-powering recreational vehicle. Designed for off-grid travel, the PG5 represents the 2026 model year's push toward enhanced energy capabilities.

The Evotrex PG5 integrates multiple power sources: a 43 kWh LFP traction battery, 1.5 kW solar panels, and a built-in Horizon gasoline generator that acts as a range extender. Together, this system can deliver over 270 kWh of usable energy per cycle, with automatic solar charging and regenerative braking during towing.

This camper features its own electric motor and a trailer drive that assists the tow vehicle—whether electric or internal combustion—by reducing load and improving efficiency. Beyond powering its onboard systems, the PG5 can also serve as a charging station for electric vehicles or a backup power source for homes.

According to Evotrex, the PG5 can run its climate control and appliances autonomously for three to four days without refueling, and even longer with adequate fuel and water. Amenities include a double bed, a convertible dining area, a full bathroom with shower, an induction cooktop, a microwave, and a slide-out terrace.

The model is available for pre-order in two versions: the base Pioneer starts at $119,990 (9.43 million rubles), while the Atlas version begins at $159,990 (12.6 million rubles at current exchange rates). Production is slated to begin in late 2026, with an estimated one-year wait time.
