Volkswagen ID. Cross 2026 electric crossover seen in winter trials
Volkswagen continues testing its new electric crossover, the ID. Cross for 2026. A prototype was spotted during winter trials in Sweden, where vehicles undergo some of the toughest pre-production evaluations.
This marks the second time the camouflaged model has been seen on the road. This time, the body is painted white to help blend its lines against the snow—a tactic the automaker also uses for other upcoming updates. On closer inspection, the lighting is disguised: the outer "headlights" are stickers, while the actual lighting elements sit deeper. Areas for daytime running lights and turn signals are also visible.
In terms of size, the ID. Cross falls into the urban SUV category, measuring just over 4.2 meters in length with pronounced, robust wheel arches. At the rear, the taillights are masked to resemble the current ID.4, but the light graphics already differ, hinting at a new design that includes a light bar connecting the units.
The electric crossover is expected to offer a range of over 400 km. This new model will be part of the 2026 vehicle lineup and will evolve alongside other ID family vehicles.
