2026 Shelby GT350 convertible: 810 hp, factory warranty, and open-top power

Shelby American has unveiled the new 2026 GT350 in a surprising format: the legendary muscle car is now available as a convertible. The main difference from the factory Mustang Dark Horse SC is the ability to drive without a roof while retaining full power.

What the Shelby GT350 Offers

The Shelby GT350 is based on the standard Ford Mustang GT, modified by Shelby American specialists. The car features revised aerodynamics, a strengthened suspension, and a reworked powertrain. The base version comes with a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 producing 480 horsepower, available with either a 6-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission—something the Dark Horse SC lacks.

810 Horsepower with Factory Warranty

For those who find the standard power insufficient, Shelby offers an optional 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger installation. With this upgrade, engine output jumps to 810 horsepower. Despite such significant tuning, the powertrain retains Ford's factory warranty for three years or 55,000 km.

Design and Features

Shelby American

The GT350 convertible is easily distinguished from regular Mustangs by its aluminum hood with an air duct, a darkened radiator grille with enlarged air intakes, and 20-inch forged wheels.

Inside, you'll find leather seats with stitching, a serial number on the dashboard, branded floor mats, and a special gear shift knob for manual versions. The convertible also offers an optional roll bar behind the front seats.

Price and Positioning

The supercharged Shelby GT350 Convertible starts at $121,385. This makes it more expensive than the anticipated Mustang Dark Horse SC, but Shelby delivers a unique combination: over 800 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, and an open-top body.
