This hybrid powertrain pairs a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 with a single motor-generator in a parallel hybrid setup. The result is more power and torque for the Land Cruiser, while maintaining its off-road prowess without compromise. With a peak output of 457 horsepower, this becomes the most powerful Land Cruiser to date, and maximum torque jumps by 20 percent to 790 Nm.

The gasoline engine and motor-generator can work together, leveraging the electric motor’s instant torque and power for strong, responsive, and linear acceleration. Throttle response is now 40 percent sharper compared to the twin-turbo 3.3-liter internal combustion engine in the Land Cruiser 300. The vehicle can also run on electric power alone at speeds below 30 km/h, with seamless automatic switching to EV mode.

The system features a new layout where the motor-generator with a clutch sits between the engine and the 10-speed automatic transmission. Engine starting, electric driving, electric power steering, and energy regeneration are handled by the hybrid system, which includes a nickel-metal hydride battery. Paired with the hybrid setup is a new electric power steering system that delivers more precise handling across all road surfaces.

This model has undergone extreme testing in challenging conditions worldwide, proving its ability to tackle any terrain. Measures like waterproof battery casing ensure wading capability remains intact at 700 mm.

The new hybrid Land Cruiser 300 will be offered in three trim levels: VX, ZX, and GR SPORT, all with five-seat interiors.

The VX trim comes with 18-inch gloss alloy wheels, a power rear door, a 1500-watt AC outlet, full-LED headlights with sequential turn signals, and LED front fog lights. Inside, the infotainment system features a digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen. It provides route navigation, and onboard entertainment includes a premium JBL audio system with 14 speakers. High comfort levels are ensured by four-zone climate control, a rear window defogger, a heated steering wheel, and power-adjustable front seats.

The ZX trim is equipped with an extensive suite of off-road driving aids, including Toyota Multi-Terrain Select, which automatically adjusts braking force and torque for different driving conditions. Off-road cruise control and multi-terrain monitor systems ensure safe travel over rough surfaces, while downhill assist control, blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, and a panoramic view monitor make on-road maneuvering safer and easier. The ZX also features aerodynamic body cladding that gives the Land Cruiser an even more rugged appearance. Other key highlights include adaptive variable suspension, a five-mode drive mode selector, a head-up display, a hands-free power rear door sensor, and a rear locking differential.

The GR SPORT trim draws design inspiration from TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, which has claimed multiple world championship victories. It gets exclusive front and rear bumpers along with wheel arches for a more imposing stance. The front grille carries the classic TOYOTA badge. The 18-inch wheels have a unique off-road design, and GR badges appear both on the exterior and inside the cabin.

Off-road performance for the GR SPORT is further enhanced by the electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (e-KDSS), which automatically disconnects the stabilizer bars to increase wheel articulation and maintain tire contact on extremely uneven terrain.
