BMW 2025 European sales: EVs reach 25%, electrified vehicles over 40%

The BMW Group has released its 2025 European results, and the figures tell a compelling story: fully electric models accounted for roughly 25% of all cars sold. When plug-in hybrids are included, the share of electrified vehicles exceeds 40%, underscoring the success of the brand's flexible strategy.

Over the last 12 months, combined sales for BMW and MINI in Europe grew by 7.3% to 1,016,360 units. The brand performed particularly well in Germany, posting an 8.7% increase. This momentum puts the company in a strong position to meet the EU's CO₂ emissions targets by 2025.

A major milestone will be the 2026 launch of the Neue Klasse platform. The first model to arrive will be the new BMW iX3, with deliveries starting in March. Later in the year, BMW will also introduce the next-generation 3 Series and X5. Both models will be offered with plug-in hybrid variants alongside their fully electric counterparts, the i3 and iX5. The updated 7 Series will continue to offer the 750e and M760e hybrids alongside the i7 electric sedan.

The iX4 is expected to debut in 2026, with the full impact of these new models becoming clear in 2027, their first full year on the market. In more accessible segments, the future i1 and i2, along with a new generation of the iX1, will play a crucial role. It's important to note that BMW is not abandoning internal combustion engines entirely.

The company continues to advocate for the development of petrol and diesel technology. The European Union has already softened its stance, allowing the sale of new ICE vehicles after 2035 provided emissions are drastically reduced. BMW has chosen a pragmatic path—not an "all or nothing" approach, but a gradual transition to electrification. This measured strategy is currently driving the brand's steady growth across Europe.
