Ford to launch new Bronco SUV in Europe with hybrid powertrains

Ford has officially confirmed plans to launch a new SUV for the European market in 2027. Company CEO Jim Farley indicated the model could carry the legendary Bronco name, adapted to meet European requirements and tastes while retaining its signature American character, according to a report by 32CARS.RU.

The future crossover will be built on the C2 platform already used by the Ford Kuga. However, its design will be completely original, featuring a more angular silhouette, vertical lines, and pronounced off-road styling cues that pay homage to the classic Bronco. This approach positions the model as a stylistic antithesis to the Kuga, targeting buyers seeking a more rugged image.

From a technical standpoint, the focus will be on hybrid versions and powertrains with extended range. Ford has decided against a fully electric version, acknowledging that demand for EVs in Europe has fallen short of forecasts. Production will be established at the Valencia plant, where the Kuga is already assembled, which will help reduce costs and accelerate the model's market launch. For Ford, this project holds strategic importance.

The new Bronco is expected to help the brand regain its footing in the competitive C-SUV segment, where it faces stiff competition from the Volkswagen Tiguan, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, and Skoda Kodiaq. The model's success is particularly crucial given the modest sales of the Capri and Explorer EV.
