Hyundai RN24: An Electric Rolling Lab for Future Sporty N Models
Hyundai unveils the RN24, an electric Rolling Lab N with 650 hp from IONIQ 5 N powertrain. It tests advanced handling and driver engagement for future sporty models.
Hyundai has unveiled the RN24, an electric Rolling Lab N designed to develop future sporty models under the N division. The prototype isn't a typical concept car; it's a technical laboratory for testing solutions in handling, control, and driver engagement.
The RN24 borrows its powertrain from the IONIQ 5 N. The electric setup produces 650 hp, and the battery has an 84 kWh capacity. Hyundai revised the car's architecture, shortening the wheelbase by 340 mm to bring proportions closer to a rally car and enhance maneuverability.
The chassis gets revised suspension, reinforced subframes, and more direct steering. Software is a key focus. The WRC Powertrain Drive Control Logic lets drivers adjust throttle response, regeneration, and torque distribution between the wheels.
A Rally mode simulates the behavior of all-wheel-drive rally machines, and an electronic e-handbrake inspired by WRC is included. To heighten the driving sensation, the N Active Sound+ system with additional side speakers is employed.
The construction uses N Performance components, 19-inch forged wheels, an exposed roll cage, motorsport elements, and 3D-printed parts. Among the 2026 sports cars, the RN24 stands out as an experimental platform rather than a production model.
