Uber is launching a unique service in Japan for JDM enthusiasts called Uber Drift. It isn't your typical city ride—it's a half-day experience at the Mobara Twin Circuit, where passengers get strapped into a Nissan 180SX or Silvia S15 driven by a professional Formula Drift driver.
The journey begins in Tokyo. Participants are picked up from their hotel or accommodation via Uber Black, then driven about 90 minutes to the track. A video shows a Toyota Alphard, a logical choice for premium transport in Japan. Once on site, the group enjoys a private session on the circuit. Mobara is known for its tight layout with short corners, making it an almost ideal venue for drifting.

Each ride can accommodate up to four people. The number of laps is distributed within the group, and then the main event begins: tandem drifting in classic Japanese coupes. For fans of the 180SX and Silvia S15, this is practically a postcard from Japanese car culture—noise, smoke, speed, and sideways action without needing to arrange the car, driver, or track yourself.
The price for Uber Drift is 30,000 yen. At current exchange rates, that's roughly 13,400 rubles or about $189. Bookings open on May 27, and the sessions run from June 3 to July 1. Up to four groups are available per day, so spots will be limited.
Uber has previously offered unusual rides through its Go Anywhere program, from safaris in South Africa to hot air balloons in Turkey. But the Tokyo drift experience feels especially fitting—it's a case where the ride matters more than the destination.
