Nobody expected the Czech brand to touch its own emblem. But Skoda did exactly that — for one specific reason that says everything about its next move.

Nobody expected the Czech brand to voluntarily “mess up” its own logo. But that’s exactly what Skoda did. On the Spanish market, the brand’s emblem has temporarily picked up the tilde from the letter “ñ” — the most recognizable diacritical mark in the Spanish language. A gesture in honor of the first car in Skoda’s history that will be built on Spanish soil.

The car is the Skoda Epiq — a compact electric SUV that will soon roll off the line at the Volkswagen Navarra plant in Pamplona. For Skoda, it’s a new chapter. For Spain, it’s one more argument for its role as a key electrification hub inside the Volkswagen Group. The campaign was developed by PS21 Barna, and in the coming weeks it will appear on outdoor advertising and digital channels.

The idea is minimalist and precise: tie Skoda’s Czech roots to its new industrial chapter in Spain. The tiny tweak to the logo works precisely because a Spaniard reads “ñ” in an instant — it’s a symbol of language and identity. And the Epiq itself is interesting for more than just its assembly location.

It’s one of the future affordable compact EVs from the Volkswagen Group, in B-SUV format. Length — 4,171 mm, width — 1,798 mm, height — 1,581 mm, wheelbase — 2,601 mm. The trunk holds 475 liters, plus another 25 in the frunk, with extra storage nooks in the cabin.

On the outside, the Epiq develops Skoda’s new design language: the Tech-Deck Face front end, T-shaped light signature, wheels from 17 to 20 inches, six body colors and substantial underbody protection. Inside — a digital instrument cluster, Android-based infotainment, a 13-inch central screen and materials with an eco-conscious accent.

Technically, the Epiq is built on the new MEB+ electric platform — the same one used by its siblings Volkswagen ID. Polo, Volkswagen ID. Cross and Cupra Raval. Drive is front-wheel only.

The line-up — two batteries and three power levels: Epiq 35, Epiq 40 and Epiq 55. The base Epiq 35 and Epiq 40 get an LFP battery with 38.5 kWh gross capacity (37.5 kWh usable). Power — 85 and 99 kW respectively, torque is identical — 267 Nm. Range — 315 km, top speed capped at 150 km/h.

The flagship Epiq 55 packs an NMC battery with 55 kWh gross (51.5 kWh usable). Power — 155 kW, torque — 290 Nm, top speed — 160 km/h, range — up to 440 km. DC fast charging from 10 to 80% takes around 24 minutes.

For Skoda, the Spanish tilde above its logo isn’t just a marketing stunt. The Epiq is meant to be that rare case where the assembly location, the price and the compact SUV format do as much for the image as the design itself. And it seems the brand pulled it off — because you’ve already remembered why “ñ” is here.
