Porsche quietly, almost without an announcement, brought the hybrid 911 Targa 4 GTS to the Philippine market. The model has already appeared on the brand’s local website, and certificates of conformity have surfaced in the Land Transportation Office database — meaning the first cars are probably being prepped for delivery. And this isn’t just another 911 iteration. It’s the first hybrid Targa to reach Southeast Asia.
The Targa has always stood apart — between coupe and cabriolet, with an opening central roof section but without fully committing to roadster format. In the 4 GTS version, that recipe gains a hybrid powertrain and all-wheel drive. The result is a fast grand tourer that has become noticeably more advanced without losing its character.
Under the hood — a 3.6-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine with an electric turbocharger. The electric motor is integrated into the 8-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission: it delivers instant torque from low revs and sharpens throttle response at the same time. Combined T-Hybrid system output — 541 hp and 610 Nm. The 911 Targa 4 GTS sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds, with a top speed of 312 km/h. Supercar numbers, basically — and that’s with the roof opening up.
Porsche claims roughly 11 liters per 100 km in the combined cycle. But for a Targa, that figure is hardly the main argument: the hybrid system here works not for economy but for traction and instant response. The equipment list includes rear-axle steering, which makes the car more stable at speed and more maneuverable in tight city blocks.
The active PASM suspension with adjustable damping shifts the car’s character between Normal and Sport modes. In the Philippine market, this 911 will be a niche purchase — but a clear one: it’s a Porsche for those who want near-track-version speed paired with a relaxed character and the signature Targa roof. A compromise that sells itself.
