Citroen has slipped something for people tired of dull electric cars into its e-C3 range. The new Tonic version slots in between the entry Comfort Range at €24,950 and the pricier Plus at €27,150.
Tonic’s main trump card over the base version is a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The extra charge is just €800. Everything else is mostly cosmetic polish.
And on the styling front, Citroen didn’t play it safe. The e-C3 Tonic gets Tonic decals, blacked-out A-pillars, swappable Color Clips accents and a bright red roof — the kind of flourish that will pick this car out on a parking lot full of identical EVs. The body, however, comes in only two colours — black or white — and the white paint tacks on another €350.
Now for the truth about the equipment. The Tonic makes do with halogen headlights. There’s no height adjustment for the driver’s seat, no extra seat padding, no split-folding rear bench, no faux-leather steering wheel wrap and no rain sensor. The audio system? Two speakers instead of six. Citroen made its priorities crystal clear: screen, price and a splash of red on the roof. Everything else was left for someone else to worry about.
