Everyone braced for yet another crossover — and got a hatchback instead. Leapmotor has opened order books for the electric B05 in the UK, and in a market drowning in SUVs, that alone feels like a statement. The C-segment car rolls out through a 79-strong dealer network, with the first examples due in showrooms by late July 2026.
Now the part that actually matters — the price. The B05 starts at £28,995 (about $38,000), and that already factors in Leapmotor’s own £1500 grant. For the class, it borders on cheeky.
There is a single trim, but the kit list makes “what costs extra?” almost pointless. Standard gear includes a panoramic roof, 19-inch wheels, frameless doors, automatic climate control, LED lighting, heated and power-folding mirrors, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, a 14.6-inch central screen and an 8.8-inch digital cluster.
The engineering matches. The B05 rides on a Cell-to-Chassis architecture, carries a 67.1 kWh battery and a rear motor good for 218 hp. WLTP range is up to 300 miles (483 km) on a charge. DC fast charging at up to 174 kW refills the pack from 30 to 80% in 17 minutes. Nought to 62 mph takes about 6.7 seconds. For an affordable hatch, that is more than respectable.
