Subaru rarely makes headlines with its 0-60 times. This time is different. Subaru of America has revealed pricing for the new all-electric Trailseeker EV for the 2027 model year — and the first thing that grabs you isn’t the sticker. The SUV still starts at $39,995 before destination, exactly like the outgoing version. But the numbers under the skin have climbed enough to make you rethink what this brand is about.
Beneath the body sit two electric motors, the signature Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and a combined 375 hp. Zero to 60 mph takes 4.3 seconds. Remember that figure: by Subaru’s own account, this is the quickest production car the brand has ever sold in the US. A 74.7 kWh battery delivers up to 281 miles (452 km) of range. And DC fast charging at up to 150 kW tops the pack back up from 10 to 80% in just 28 minutes.
There are three trims to choose from: Premium, Limited and Touring. The base version is priced at $39,995, the Limited at $43,995, the Touring at $46,555. Destination adds another $1475 — or $1625 for buyers in Alaska.
Even the “base” car comes generously equipped. Standard kit includes a 14-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, the EyeSight suite, roof rails, two wireless charging pads and X-MODE settings for snow, mud and descents.
But the most interesting part for the average buyer isn’t the sprint to 60. Ground clearance — 216 mm. Towing capacity — up to 1588 kg. Cargo space behind the second row — up to 886 litres. And next to the Solterra, the newcomer looks distinctly more substantial: over 15 cm longer and nearly 2.5 cm taller. This is the rare case where “faster” is just one argument among many, not the only one.
Subaru Brataroo was previously reported to debut in the UK at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
