Mercedes-Maybach S-Class refresh set for 2026 with tech and design upgrades
Mercedes-Maybach S-Class refresh lands in 2026, likely April. Expect new lighting, Level 3 driving, a stronger S 580 e PHEV with 100 km EV range, plus the V12.
Mercedes-Benz is weighing a later debut for the refreshed Mercedes-Maybach S-Class slated for 2026. While the facelifted S-Class is expected shortly after the start of 2026, the most opulent member of the range could reach the market a bit later—likely in April.
The company has extended the model’s testing program, a sign that the update goes deeper than a routine refresh. Rather than investing in an all-new generation, Mercedes is focusing on refinements to design, comfort, and technology. On the outside, the S-Class and the Maybach will share the same cues: reworked headlights with two stars and taillights featuring three light elements. A unified face should tighten the family identity while leaving the Maybach to distinguish itself through execution and ambiance.
A standalone Maybach reveal could be timed to the Shanghai auto show, long considered a pivotal stage for this model. That strategy would split the spotlight between versions and ease the direct crossfire with the updated BMW 7-Series—sensible product choreography in a crowded luxury arena.
Technically, the Maybach S-Class will keep two powertrains. The S 580 e plug-in hybrid is set to gain a larger battery and up to 100 km of electric-only range. The 6.0-liter V12 with 612 hp remains unchanged. Expanded driver-assistance capability is also expected, including Level 3 automated driving. Taken together, the package positions the model among the premium newcomers of 2026, with continuity for loyalists and a longer electric glide for everyday luxury.
