Ford has announced plans to integrate its own AI assistant into Ford and Lincoln vehicles by 2027. The system will focus on personalized multimedia features and handling tasks during drives.

The company describes Ford AI not as a typical voice program but as an "intelligent thread" that will connect owners with their vehicles and adapt to user habits. The assistant will account for specific model characteristics and adjust to owner needs.

One demonstration of its capabilities showed the AI assessing how much firewood could fit in a pickup truck bed using a photograph. It calculates volume while considering bed dimensions and tie-down locations. Results can be accessed remotely through Ford or Lincoln apps.

In the first half of 2026, Ford AI will appear in brand applications and become available to over 8 million customers. A separate version is also being prepared for commercial users. The company notes that by 2027, the assistant will become part of the vehicle interface rather than operating as simple smartphone mirroring.
