Ram ProMaster City returns to North American market
Ram confirms the ProMaster City compact van is coming back. Learn about its potential electric version, platform, and launch details for this commercial vehicle.
Ram is planning to bring the compact commercial van ProMaster City back to the North American market. According to industry sources, brand head Tim Kuniskis directly confirmed that the company is "bringing back the ProMaster City."
The model first launched in 2015 as a more maneuverable alternative to full-size work vans. Technically, the ProMaster City was based on the European Fiat Doblo and came equipped with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder Tigershark gasoline engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Production of the ProMaster City ended after the 2022 model year. However, discussions about a potential return gained momentum in 2024 following statements from leadership about growth in the commercial vehicle segment. In September 2025, Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa also called the ProMaster City one of the "very important" nameplates that had been discontinued in recent years.
Additional hints emerged after spy photos in Europe captured a camouflaged van on the Stellantis K0 platform, suggesting a new generation is in development. The launch timeline and powertrain details remain undisclosed. Options under consideration reportedly include an electric version, along with potential gasoline and hybrid variants.
