MG S9 crossover: a family-friendly hybrid SUV with 7 seats
MG launches the S9 crossover in Europe, a spacious 7-seat hybrid SUV with top safety ratings, up to 100 km electric range, and affordable pricing for families.
MG has confirmed the launch of its new S9 crossover, which will complete the brand's European lineup. This model will be the largest and most spacious SUV in the MG range, designed for families and long-distance travel with a seven-seat interior and a hybrid powertrain.
The MG S9 was already spotted in Euro NCAP safety tests in November, where it achieved the top safety rating. In terms of dimensions, the crossover approaches the premium segment: it measures 4,983 mm in length, 1,967 mm in width, and 1,786 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,915 mm. Ground clearance reaches 200 mm, and boot space ranges from 1,026 to 2,093 liters, though it drops to 203 liters when all three rows of seats are in use. The second row features seatbacks adjustable up to 35 degrees and increased legroom, emphasizing the model's family-friendly focus.

From a technical standpoint, the MG S9 will be offered exclusively as a PHEV hybrid. The powertrain includes a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine producing 142 hp and an electric motor with 224 hp, delivering a combined output of 327 hp. The base version is front-wheel drive, but MG also plans an all-wheel-drive variant with an additional electric motor on the rear axle. The transmission is a two-speed automatic.
The battery has a usable capacity of 21.4 kWh and a total capacity of 25 kWh, allowing for up to 100 km of all-electric range. At speeds around 80 km/h, the system operates as a series hybrid, prioritizing efficiency.
MG has not yet revealed final prices but emphasizes that the S9 will not be positioned as a premium product and should be significantly more affordable than competitors like the EBRO S900 or OMODA 9, despite comparable size and equipment levels.
