Extended warranty covers 2022 Chevrolet Malibu turbo failures
GM offers 15-year/150,000-mile coverage for 2022 Chevrolet Malibu turbocharger failures, free diagnostics, replacement, and reimbursements through Nov 3, 2025.
According to a special information bulletin issued by General Motors, certain 2022 Malibu models may experience a condition in which the turbocharger stops operating correctly. This can trigger the Check Engine indicator and, in some cases, a reduced engine power message.
General Motors has acknowledged the issue and is offering owners of Chevrolet Malibu vehicles with this problem an extended warranty lasting 15 years or up to 150,000 miles (about 241,000 kilometers). Under the terms of this coverage, the manufacturer will cover the cost of diagnostics, replacement of a failed turbocharger, and all required parts at no charge to owners.
In addition, customers who have already paid for repairs out of pocket on or before November 3, 2025, can submit a claim to the company for reimbursement.
It is also noted that production of the Chevrolet Malibu officially ended in November 2024, when the final unit rolled off the factory line. The model is no longer being built by General Motors.
Taken together, the extended protection looks like a measured step to ease the impact of a potential turbo issue now that the model has left production. The promise of free diagnostics and parts replacement helps remove much of the anxiety that comes with an unexpected warning light, supporting owner confidence as the Malibu transitions from current line-up to legacy status.
